The Ophelias are an American psychedelic rock band formed in San Francisco, California, in October 1984 by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Leslie Medford. Known for their original, incredibly diverse sound that blended neo-psychedelia, art rock, and art-punk, the group became one of the first signees to the US wing of Rough Trade Records. Their discography includes their 1987 self-titled debut album and subsequent releases on labels like Strange Weekend and Independent Project Records before initially disbanding in 1989.
