Orchestra Baobab, formed in Dakar, fused Cuban and African music, notably with singer Thione Seck. They rose to fame in West Africa and Europe with hits like "Pirates Choice." Known for collaborations with Youssou N'Dour and Cheikh Lo, they've been celebrated for their influential world music style. Despite disbanding in 1987, they re-formed in 2001 and continue to tour, honoring founding member Balla Sidibé after his 2020 passing.
