Melbourne-based genre-fluid band Hiatus Kaiyote debuted with 2012 LP Tawk Tomahawk. Earned three Grammy nominations, including Best Progressive R&B Album for 2021’s Mood Valiant, and collaborated with Drake on Scorpion.
Australian songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Nai Palm (Naomi Saalfield) co-founded Melbourne indie quartet Hiatus Kaiyote in 2011, blending jazz, hip-hop and neo-soul. Released solo album Needle Paw (2017) after Choose Your Weapon (2015).
Melbourne/Narrm soul artist Allysha Joy is singer-songwriter and keys player, best known as 30/70’s lead vocalist. Her 2018 debut album Acadie : Raw won Best Soul Album at the Music Victoria Awards and was nominated for Best Jazz Album at the Worldwide Awards.
London-based septet Kokoroko blends Afrobeat, highlife, and jazz, creating a soul-shaking, horn-fueled sound. Known for their hit "Abusey Junction," which won Track of the Year at Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Awards, they were also named "ones to watch" by The Guardian. They won Best Group at the Urban Music Awards and released albums like "Could We Be More" and "Tuff Times Never Last." Their name means "be strong" in Urhobo.
