Mitsukoshi Theater Reviews

Great evening with excellent quartette and ballet dancers. If you have experienced a candlelit concert before, well worth it.

Performance: Candlelight Concert by Fever Date: 20 May 2023; 17:00; Mitsukoshi Theater Rating: Disappointing, waste of time and money, poor cost performance (コスパ) The performance contained about 45 minutes of music (Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” + 4-minute encore) by very young, unseasoned musicians (3 violinists, 1 cellist) of questionable quality, one of whom stumbled through periodic prepared readings of explanations of the upcoming pieces. Ridiculously unprofessional. The fake candles were charming, but we left feeling like we had been ripped off.

🏣1-4 Nihonbashi Muromachi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 🅿️🚗…Yes. 🚇️…Ginza Line.Hanzomon Line…1 minute walk from Mitsukoshimae Station Nihonbashi…about 5 minutes walk 🚏🚌…Mitsukoshi-mae * 1927 Called Mitsukoshi Hall, it opened on the 6th floor of the main building as a theater inside a department store. The Mitsukoshi Theater has a proscenium arch stage with a width of 12 meters and a depth of approximately 6 meters, a ceiling with stained glass, and surrounding walls with marble and plaster sculptures. July 2016 At the same time that the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi main store (main building) was designated as a national important cultural property, the decorative style of the Mitsukoshi Theater was highly praised. * April 1927 It is said that Japan's first fashion show was held at the opening of the theater, with appearances by Kabuki actor Yaeko Mizutani of Shinpa. * audience seats 514 seats 1st floor…402 seats 2nd floor…112 seats The distance from the stage is short, and although there are many places where the seats are now staggered in the front and back, it was a nostalgic arrangement of seats. * Apparently there are irregular Mitsukoshi Theater tours.

Located on the 6th floor of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi. It was born in April 1927 as Mitsukoshi Hall, a theater inside a department store unlike any other in the world. It is Rococo style, with marble and stained glass, and the ceiling pattern is stenciled and the geometric patterns are a combination of 7.8 different shades. This theater architecture was highly praised when the main building was designated as a nationally important cultural property. It's great because you can not only shop but also touch high-quality art. *In addition to the theater, stained glass can also be found on the ceiling seen from the main building's front hall and on the "Subway Entrance" logo. There are various events and tours held throughout the year, so it's definitely worth a visit.
