We have been the Paramount Theatre every year for the Banff Mountain Movie Festival. It is always a pleasure to visit this historic place in downtown Austin. It was stablished in 1915, and is still a working theater. It has been home to famous performances including Harry Houdini. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They would point out interesting facts when I was taking pictures of the original fixtures and the vintage decor in general. The sound is great and seats are comfortable. It is is a good size venue but still has an intimate feeling to it.

This was my 1st time seeing a performance here (I was meant to back in 1997, but couldn't make it). What a lovely, GRAND theatre space. The staff and ushers were great and SUPER helpful and the historic decor was just lovely.

March 2024 5 Stars for being such a historical landmark and was the first day of SXSW with the premier of Road House with Jake Gyllenhaal. People were smaller in 1915 so the seats are tight and restrooms small. After the show we head to one of the hotels nearby and then hang out there with a late night drink. There is a bar on the lobby and two smaller ones in the balcony. The seating vantage points are pretty good for live shows but no so for movies on the ends but being there will be worth it. Be carful walking up the stairs especially in the balcony where they are uneven with no railings. But the Paramount Theater has done their best to bring this old theater in the now where the sound for movies is Dolby 7.1 with new sound/visual equipment. The staff is super friendly and helpful and will have a great time.

Very old historic theater. Very ornate ceilings beautiful to look at. View was good from mezzanine, however do not sit in front row as leg room is very cramped and lighting equipment on the railings may block your view.

Beautiful theater in downtown Austin. Lots of walkable restaurants and easy access to hotels. Walking distance to the capitol.
