This is one of Glasgow's oldest theatres. It was opened in feb 1904. I love it. It has been a place i have witnessed every kind of entertainment in over the last 60 years of my life. I was first taken there by a beloved aunt at around 11 years old.She was a devotee of Glasgow's famous comedian Lex Mclean.Over decades i have seen comedy, drama, Scottish variety productions,Billy Connolly, Francie and Josie, two standout looong shows by Ken Dodd.Freddie Starr. Endless pantomimes, more shows than i can remember. Finally into the big music nights with amazing shows by BB King, Rory Gallagher,Jeff Healy The theatre retains all it original charm with its french style beautiful balconies and decor over a staggering 119 years of presenting every kind of show imaginable. Tonight is was the unique guitar stylings of the Australian Maestro Tommy Emmanuel. This place couldn't be more special.Try to go at least once in your life.Yeah! that great an experience.

Dianne and I attended the Butler, Blake and Grant supported by Harley Kimbro Lewis last night for Celtic Connections. What a night. The latter were a brilliant slice of pure Americana, really well received by an enthusiastic full house. The main dish was friendly, cheery, relaxed but with beautiful harmonies and guitar playing. Bernard Butler really made Dianne's night by singing 'Yes', outstanding. The old Pavilion made a great night even more intimate and enjoyable. Bravo 👏.

Went to see David Suchet there last night (Monday 19th February 2024.) Despite the fire alarm sounding some five minutes before the show started, the staff handled the evacuation and re-entering of the building well, and we were seated swiftly. It was a really excellent show and what a nice man he is as a person. He's interesting, talented, and a genuinely nice man. Lovely historic building too.
