I've heard really good things about the Depo in Plymouth, it was my first visit last weekend. Upon arrival it appeared to be a nice venue, we got there at 2 am, it was fairly quiet, music was good and staff were friendly. We paid for entry, for three of us a total of £30, we were not told when the club would close, but we had previously checked online to find that the club would close at 5am. We bought a round of drinks and were enjoying the night. At quarter past 2 we were approached by a member of staff who told us the club was closing due to a power cut, he also told us that the venue had been supposed to close at 2:30 anyway, information we had not been told at door when we arrived. We had to finish our drinks quickly and leave as staff wanted everyone out to close, understandably. However, to spend a total of £60 in a venue, in the space of fifteen minutes, to find out we could have only been there for half an hour anyway is very disappointing. I think it is important to make customers aware of closing times, or perhaps consider not allowing people in after a certain time when trying to close. It seems very unfair to charge a large entrance fee, which I understand is due to the acts that perform at your venue, when you fail to inform customers of closing times. Unfortunately I cannot say me or my friends will be returning.

Great venue, usually in London so really cool to come down to what feels like a proper locals club. Staff are friendly and the sound system is quality. Security as well are very efficient and kind, they’ve let me hang around past closing hiding from the train to try and get home, other clubs just try and clear people out asap. This club at capacity though is very claustrophobic, the smoking area is absolutely heaving so you are praying that it doesn’t sell out. Another issue is the weird water policy, not offering refills which we all know you legally do have to offer. Tried to make me buy another bottle and when they were sold out charged me £1 to fill it up with tap water. I get that drink sales are important but I’d just rather pay a few quid extra on my ticket and not worry about tap water.

Saw Madball here tonight - absolutely brilliant!! Shame that the barmaid shortchanged me by a tenner. I didn't argue as there were no witnesses , and we both know what she was playing at. Venue is decent and they have some good bands and DJs.. But be warned - staff are insincere.

Best club in Plymouth hands down. Small warehouse style ‘underground’ club hosting a phenomenal array of Dj’s and bands in all genres from drum and bass to rock. I’ve seen some world class acts here. Furthermore the Depo team invest in training the next generation of DJ’s and are also heavily involved in the city. All round a great establishment. My only regret is that i don’t get to go enough.
