If you plan to visit Michigan. In addition to museums, parks, restaurants, cafes, and other attractions, be sure to go to music concerts in Michigan. I have prepared a list of my favorite venues. Perhaps you will like someplace:

1. Orchestra Hall - Detroit, MI

Orchestra Hall is an elaborate concert hall in the United States, located at 3711 Woodward Avenue in Midtown Detroit, Michigan. The hall is renowned for its superior acoustic properties and serves as the home of the internationally known Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the fourth oldest orchestra in the United States. Wikipedia

Address: Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201, United States
Capacity: Orchestra Hall: 2,000; The Cube: 450

Orchestra Hall Reviews:

  • Amazing, as usual! So easy to park right in the garage and walk next door to the hall. The most beautiful venue around to enjoy a performance. And the volunteers are so kind and helpful. Celebrating 100 years and hope it is there for another 100 years🙏
  • Not sure what I was expecting but the overall experience was better than I had expected. I sat in one of the last rows on the main floor and still had a great view of the stage. The Orchestra did an amazing job and the music sounded great in the hall. I will forsure be visiting DSO again
  • The concert was amazing. But this is such an iconic Detroit Cultural space, it is worth marking for a visit. Easy to do with DSO programming. Beautiful, sounds good. Crowd management (flow in and out) is always good.

Magic Bag Reviews:

  • Fantastic music venue, it's been undergoing renovations over the past few years and feels more classy now. Layout is intelligent, bartender was efficient and friendly. Staff kept tables cleaned off and acoustics were very good. Will be keeping an eye on the calendar for future shows with people I like. Worth a visit. Ferndale is a great town too.
  • This is a great venue!!! Lots of space to sit or stand....plus the different levels means everyone can see the stage!!! They had a pretty good selection of beer...no draft but that didn't really matter....and the staff were all friendly and helpful!!! I will definitely go back!!!
  • Amazing venue, such a great atmosphere. Lots of seating for everybody, space for dancers up front. The decor feels like an old school theater and their band selection is so diverse you can certainly find something you like.

Tip Top Deluxe Bar & Grill Reviews:

  • Sweet sweet vibe. Great burgers. The band was out of sight! Mark Hummel is a wizard on the harmonica. Junior Valentine opened and he definitely has soul. The bartender Theodore was a riot as well!
  • Had a fund raiser here for our kids school, very cool space and there was a live band that played here. Can get loud for the space but good selection of beers. Servers were friendly and helpful.
  • Great place for a variety of live acts. The staff is always really great and treats their patrons very well. As someone who has also played this venue, they also treat the bands that play there very well. I can't speak in regards to the food as I don't believe I've eaten at this establishment but am told it's good. The drinks are very reasonably priced.

The Pyramid Scheme Reviews:

  • Cool dive bar with a wide selection of beers, a handful of fancy cocktails, and a full bar to ensure you'll get your favorite drink. The venue is a nice size, and acoustics are good. Best part? SOOOOOOO many pinball machines!!!
  • The drinks are the best prices in town, great variety! I love the pinball arcade here! The stage room in the back has no complaints either. This is a great location to have a drink relax and share good times with friends. Even came here for a date to play pinball 💚 It made a wonderful second date to remember!
  • A cool bar in the heart of Grand Rapids with over ten different pinball machines and it's own music venue in the back. Also there are some unique poster's for sale that bring out this bars style. This is a definite must visit for tourists and locals who want to experience something fun and different instead of your regular run of the mill local bar.

5. The Fillmore - Detroit, MI

The Fillmore Detroit is a multi-use entertainment venue operated by Live Nation. Built in 1925, the Fillmore Detroit was known for most of its history as the State Theatre. It is located near the larger Fox Theatre in the Detroit Theatre District along Woodward Avenue across from Comerica Park and Grand Circus Park. Wikipedia

Address: 2115 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48201, United States
Capacity: 2,900
Phone: +1 313-961-5451

The Fillmore Reviews:

  • I like The Fillmore because the staff is kind, you typically don't have to wait very long for concessions and I feel safe in there. The sound has always been exceptionally executed. Having performed there a few times, that side is really cool too!
  • This venue is great! The acoustics are exceptional and the space has plenty of room for large crowds. They are quite strict in that you have to show your ticket each time you go down into the pit, but this is definitely a good thing. I've had experience at other venues where there isn't enough policing of who goes where, causing overcrowding and an unpleasant experience.
  • Great place for an awards banquet or to see a play. Music would also be wonderful to listen too here. Love the old designing of it and the stain glass. Seats are pretty comfortable too even for a larger person. Places for handicapped too.

6. GLC Live at 20 Monroe - Grand Rapids, MI

Contemporary concert hall with around 2600 seats, hosting live music, comedy shows & more.

Address: 11 Ottawa Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503, United States
Phone: +1 844-678-5483

GLC Live at 20 Monroe Reviews:

  • Personally, I LOVE 'Live Music'. It is great that there is another venue in the West Michigan area catering to this. My son and I have seen a number of shows at 20 Monroe. It is awesome. The sound is amazing, a smaller venue for an up close experience. Drinks are a bit high but I understand they have to pay the bills. Great place to see a show!
  • This is a superb venue! We'll laid out and every seat in the house have a great view of the stage. Being wider and less deep brings you closer to the bands. Kory Miller or Live Nation host is always amazing and their personal attention to you makes you want to visit again. I would recommend spending the additional money for the VIP experience.
  • Nice venue for a more intimate show than Van Andel. No bad view and the mezzanine seating appears legit, but the floor GA is great too. The way the music sounded was great for a smaller venue (very clear- not too loud or too soft). The place is clean and has nice upkeep and the amount of bars in the place to access for drinks is excellent. Always a great lineup of shows/bands too!

7. The Loving Touch - Ferndale, MI

Pool hall & live music venue with performances by local bands plus a full bar & sizable beer menu.

Address: 22634 Woodward Ave, Ferndale, MI 48220, United States
Phone: +1 248-820-5596

The Loving Touch Reviews:

  • The Loving Touch is a great smaller venue within/behind a brewery right on Woodward Ave in Ferndale. I’ve gone to a couple of shows here of the same type but the venue does have a good variety of performers booked. There is little seating space, mostly near the bar, but a fair amount of standing/dancing area. The biggest challenge coming to a show here will be parking so make sure to visit Ferndale’s parking website first to figure that out, they have a system where each space is marked by a number and you can pay on an app. There are plenty of places nearby to eat before or after a show, though the venue does offer drinks during and there is a restaurant/brewery in the same building. It’s relatively accessible where there aren’t many changes in grade (for wheelchair or walking assistance info I would contact them directly) but otherwise the area near the stage is pretty accessible. Overall I love and miss this venue and hope to find one even half as welcoming and fun in my new city.
  • Loved this venue! First timer & had a blast! This place is small, intimate and fab for live concerts! You can get so close to your favourite artists and feel safe doing it! Security were helpful, bar team was smiling Nd the crowd was having a great time singing along to The Trews and Red Wanting Blue! Will be watching for more concerts at this locale, just loved the atmosphere. Thanks!
  • Super cute venue attached to a pizza and beer joint.Super cute venue attached to a pizza and beer joint.

The Token Lounge Reviews:

  • Thornetta Davis was performing tonight and she was wonderful. What a powerful voice...a woman with so much personality that comes through in her music. The venue was clean. The staff professional and friendly. I had never frequented this place before but would have no reservations about doing so again! She gave a high energy performance that was worth every dollar.
  • The venue was awesome. Up close and personal with the bands. Cover was cheap.. $10 and got to see 5 bands. Drinks were around $6. I got a vodka cranberry and the hubby got captain and coke. This gave off a biker bar feel but there were all sorts and all ages there. Everyone was friendly. So glad we went
  • Place literally looks like your in your buddy's basement. Small venue with bad views, decent beer selection, no food. Can go outside to smoke(conveniently), bathrooms are scary, floor is sticky. Perfect place for a rock show.

The Crofoot Reviews:

  • I got to open and see Neil Hilborn last night at The Pike Room. It was the most perfect spot for the event. The staff at The Pike Room was really friendly and engaging. The audience was able to engage and it was an intimate setting.
Working with The Crofoot was awesome, checking in and out was seamless and low stress. Staff was very prompt. Shout out to Erica and Curtis for their extreme professionalism and accommodations.
  • Great place for a show. Great acuatics. Clean bathrooms. Not a bad seat in the house. Very intimate due to size.
  • Pretty solid venue. It was my first time there. It was clean and the bathrooms were nice. By the end of the night the trash cans in the bathroom were completely overflowing. Tissue and paper towel all over the floor. Easy to find building and entrance.
    Parking 10$ or VIP 20$
Didn’t go upstairs but saw tables, chairs and a couch or two.
Outdoors was not bad, wish there had been a few more chairs. Good amount of people just sat out there smoking.
3$ for a bottle of water, didn’t buy any drinks. They make it easy with square/iPads.
Believe they had a coat check by the entrance.

Little Caesars Arena Reviews:

  • First time, and I am impressed. Easy to make your way around, even with a ton of people it was easy to walk around. There were even a few hidden bathrooms (thank you wonderful lady who took us straight to one when we looked lost)! The seats are spacious and comfortable. It doesn't look like there's a bad seat in the house! The campus around the arena looks nice, and it's easy to get to the parking structure.
  • Went to the Little Caesar's Arena last night for the Tool concert. It was our first visit to this new arena, and I have to say we were both pretty impressed. The layout is fairly easy to figure out and navigate to your seats. They have a ton of vendors, restaurant and beverage choices. All and all it was a fantastic show at a great venue. We would definitely like to come back for a hockey game or basketball game sometime and would definitely come back for another concert.
  • I sat up in the box section right below Portal 60 for the Tool concert tonight, first time I've ever been to Little Caesars Arena. Nice that Detroit finally has an arena that's akin to other big newer arenas around the states. The seating was a bit tight up in the nosebleeds but the view was fine. A wonderful show tonight.

12. Royal Oak Music Theatre - Royal Oak, MI

Royal Oak Music Theatre is a music venue located at 318 W. Fourth Street, Royal Oak, Michigan. It was built as a vaudeville theatre and opened in 1928. Wikipedia

Address: 318 W 4th St, Royal Oak, MI 48067, United States
Capacity: 1,700
Phone: +1 248-399-2980

Royal Oak Music Theatre Reviews:

  • Great venue, plenty of space for a mid level artist concert. There's the front standing section for people who want to jump and get wild, but there's also stairs at the end of that section onto a slightly higher floor for the people who might not want to get wild and or have a drink. There's a bar and free water cups. I went to the Jaden and Willow Smith concert, wonderful.
  • Saw Blue October there. Great place for a concert. No bathroom lines and no bar lines. I was able to enjoy the concert with none of the typical issues other venues have. Also, they did have a coat check which I personally find very important at a concert during Michigan winter.
  • Had a wonderful time here seeing Ween live in 2018. What a wonderful show. I was in the company of a very good friend and we had an absolute blast. She hadn't been to a concert in over 10 years so I was privileged to take her to her first in so long. Ween were in wonderful mood... their setlist was great, opening with Jammy, a song they'd not played all tour. Also played Hammer. Awesome show.
