Antonio Lucio Vivaldi was an Italian composer, virtuoso violinist, and impresario of Baroque music. Regarded as one of the greatest Baroque composers, he significantly influenced the concerto form and the style of late Baroque instrumental music. Nicknamed "The Red Priest" due to his red hair, he was ordained in 1703 but spent much of his career dedicated to music, notably as a teacher and director at the Ospedale della Pietà orphanage in Venice. He composed over 500 concertos, with his best-known work being the series of violin concertos titled The Four Seasons, a pioneering example of programmatic music.
