The Apo Hiking Society, often known simply as APO, is a pioneering Filipino acoustic folk-rock group formed in 1969 by Danny Javier, Jim Paredes, and Boboy Garrovillo. Regarded as pillars and icons of Original Pilipino Music (OPM)—a term coined by Javier—the group gained widespread prominence in the 1970s for their accessible melodies, intricate vocal harmonies, and culturally impactful lyrics. Over a career spanning five decades, they released over 20 albums, hosted successful television shows, and frequently toured internationally, becoming the first Filipino pop artists to perform at New York's Carnegie Hall in 1987. Although the original trio effectively retired in 2010 and Javier passed away in 2022, surviving members Paredes and Garrovillo continue to perform and tour as a duo to preserve their enduring musical legacy.
