Barrens is a Swedish instrumental post-rock and post-metal trio formed in Gothenburg, consisting of guitarist/synthesizer player Johan G. Winther, bassist/synthesizer player Kenta Jansson, and drummer Markku Hildén. Featuring members of the alternative indie rock band Scraps of Tape, the group is known for their dense, synth-driven compositions and atmosphere. Signed to Pelagic Records, they released their debut album Penumbra in 2020 and followed it with their sophomore studio album, Corpse Lights, in 2025.
