Chiharu Matsuyama, born in Ashoro, Hokkaido, is a celebrated Japanese folk singer-songwriter. Debuting in 1977 with "Tabidachi," he is known for his emotive style, powerful vocals, and heartfelt lyrical compositions. Popular songs include "Oozora to Daichi no Naka de" and "Kisetsu no Nakade". Matsuyama's career features numerous albums and a Japan Academy Award for Newcomer of the Year. His autobiographical work inspired a film.
