Born in Drumlish, Co. Longford, Eire, Nerney grew up on a farm, influenced by The Beatles, Elvis, and Joe Dolan. He started with the Hi-Lo's and later sang with Gene Stuart and Brian Coll. Transitioning to a solo career in the late '80s, he became known for live performances in Ireland and the USA. Famous for a distinctive falsetto, he collaborated with Henry McMahon on hits like "Anna From Fermanagh" and "Good Night And God Bless."
