Cuban-born jazz drummer Francisco Mela blends traditional Cuban music with jazz. Based in Boston after attending Berklee College of Music, he has collaborated with Joe Lovano, McCoy Tyner, and Kenny Barron. Mela released his debut album Melao in 2006, followed by Cirio and Tree of Life.
