Gary Lewis & the Playboys emerged from Los Angeles during the British Invasion, led by drummer-turned-singer Gary Lewis, son of comedian Jerry Lewis. Managed by producer Snuff Garrett, the rock and roll group scored a chart-topping smash in early 1965 with This Diamond Ring. Known for hits like She's Just My Style, Lewis later joined the armed forces, ultimately becoming a staple of the oldies circuit.
