Ilaiyaraaja, from Pannaipuram, Tamil Nadu, is a prolific Indian composer blending folk, Carnatic, and Western classical styles. Dubbed "Isaignani" and "Maestro," he has scored over 1500 films and received numerous awards, including the Padma Vibhushan. He became the first Asian to debut a Western classical symphony in London.
