JJJJJerome Ellis, born in Groton, CT, to Jamaican and Grenadian parents, is a multimedia artist, composer, and writer. His interdisciplinary work explores Blackness, disabled speech, and music, often incorporating saxophone, flute, electronics, and vocals. Ellis is recognized for his album The Clearing (2021) and book Aster of Ceremonies (2023). He received a Fulbright Award, United States Artists Fellowship, Creative Capital Award, and the Anna Rabinowitz Prize. He collaborates as James & Jerome.
