Born in Tsunoi, Tottori, Kenji Sawada is a Japanese rock singer and actor dubbed “the Japanese David Bowie.” A Tigers member, he headlined the ’60s “group sound” boom, debuted solo with Julie (1969), and later founded the Julie label.
