Chicago-born jazz trumpeter Marquis Hill fuses post-bop and jazz-funk with hip-hop, R&B, and neo-soul. He won the 2014 Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition, released New Gospel (2011), and acclaimed Concord debut The Way We Play (2016). A collaborator with artists like Benny Golson and Makaya McCraven, Hill's works include Soul Sign and Rituals + Routines.
