Tejano singer/accordionist Michael Salgado rose in the mid-’90s reviving a Ramon Ayala-influenced norteño sound. He formed a backing band at 19 and hit Latin charts in 1995 with “Cruz de Madera.” His 1996 album En Concierto featured Top 20 hit “Sin Ella.”
