Miranda Sykes, born in Spalding, Lincolnshire, is an English folk singer, double-bassist, and guitarist. Known for her rich vocals and versatile style spanning folk, jazz, and rock, she is a respected musician. She performs with Show of Hands and has collaborated with Rex Preston, Hannah Martin (SykesMartin), and Jim Causley. Her solo albums include "Bliss," "Borrowed Places," and "Behind the Wall." She received an honorary doctorate from the University of Plymouth.
