The North Carolina Symphony is an American orchestra based in Raleigh, North Carolina, consisting of sixty-six full-time musicians. Founded in 1932 as a work relief project under the New Deal, it became the first symphony orchestra in the nation to receive continuous state funding. Performing under the artistic leadership of Grammy Award-winning Music Director Carlos Miguel Prieto, the symphony is celebrated for its extensive music education programs and wide-ranging concert series across the state.
