Australian extreme metal band Portal, formed in Brisbane in 1994, crafts an unorthodox fusion of death, black, and experimental metal. Known for their terrifying, dissonant sound and abstract horror themes, their music features heavily distorted riffs and menacing vocals. The band maintains anonymous personas with elaborate, 1920s-inspired costumes and masks.
