Rudresh Mahanthappa, born in Trieste, Italy, and raised in Boulder, Colorado, is a celebrated alto saxophonist and composer. He is acclaimed for his innovative fusion of progressive jazz and South Indian classical music. A Guggenheim Fellow and Doris Duke Performing Artist Award recipient, he has earned multiple "Alto Saxophonist of the Year" honors. Notable albums include "Bird Calls" and "Hero Trio". He has collaborated with artists like Vijay Iyer and Kadri Gopalnath.
