Strange Boutique formed from the 1980s Washington, DC punk scene, with singer Monica Richards and Steve Willett. Their sound drew on DC post-punk energy with melody and texture. The band released three albums and returned for a 2019 DC9 show honoring guitarist Fred Smith.
