Orchestra Baobab, formed in Dakar, fused Cuban and African music, notably with singer Thione Seck. They rose to fame in West Africa and Europe with hits like "Pirates Choice." Known for collaborations with Youssou N'Dour and Cheikh Lo, they've been celebrated for their influential world music style. Despite disbanding in 1987, they re-formed in 2001 and continue to tour, honoring founding member Balla Sidibé after his 2020 passing.
Gnoss is a Glasgow-based contemporary folk quartet formed by Graham Rorie, Aidan Moodie, Connor Sinclair, and Craig Baxter. Known for their lively instrumentals and evocative songs, they've toured extensively in the UK, Europe, and Australia. Triple BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards nominees, they've wowed audiences at festivals like Cambridge Folk Festival and Tønder Festival. Their 2023 album "Stretching Skyward," produced by Scott Wood, blends acoustic and electronic styles, earning critical acclaim and over 2 million streams.
