History of Country Music

Country music is a genre of popular music that originated in the USA in the early 1920s. It used to be called hillbilly music until the term was largely replaced by the term country music. The US Congress formally recognizes Bristol, Tennessee as the birthplace of Country music, owing to the fact that the first official recording sessions of this genre were conducted in studios in Bristol.
