History of Latin Music

Latin music is a broad genre that is used to refer to music that came from Latin America, Portugal, and Spain. Generally, it is used to label songs that are sung in either Spanish or Portuguese, while the former is the language most associated with it. The genre is believed to have risen from Rhumba in the 1930s.

Latin started to gain popularity in the 1940s and 50s with the help of great artists such as Tito Puente, Xavier Cugat, and Pérez Prado. The music can be said to be a result of the cultural integration of the Hispanics, Latin Americans, and Portuguese with the existing American populace.

Despite being lumped together as one genre, Latin features a wide array of musical styles, and artists have protested the attempts by the US music industry to oversimply it, causing the National Recording Academy (NARAS) to create 3 categories of awards: Latin pop, Latin pop, and Mexican / Mexican-American.

Biggest Latin Concerts

Hoping to attend some Latin concerts for a wholesome experience?

Ruido Fest, which takes place in Chicago, is a great festival where you can witness some of the greatest artists from all over the world.

iHeartRadio Fiesta Latina is another festival worth attending. It takes place in Miami, Florida.

Here are some other popular Latin music festivals: Vibra Urbana, Neon, and Bésame Mucho.

What Seats are the Best at a Concert

The best place to enjoy the music varies between concert venues of course. The seats at the front are desirable, but they are also the most expensive. You can get the seats that are a little further from the stage and still have the best experience. For outdoor concerts, try not to stay too far away as the sound will become muffled.
