Often simply called metal, heavy metal is a musical genre that established itself in the 1960s and 1970s, especially in the US and UK. Metal is an offshoot of blues rock, acid rock, and psychedelic rock.
Metal is an extreme form of music, characterized by distorted guitar sounds, heavy drumming, low bass range, and throaty and aggressive vocals. The sounds tend to be loud and fast-paced. Performances and lyrics tend to get aggressive, displaying elements of machismo.
Heavy metal can be said to be similar to hard rock in many regards. The former, however, is more extreme and tends to stray from its blues-rock roots. Metal was popularized by bands such as Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple.
Subgenres of metal include glam metal (metal’s version of glam rock), thrash metal, and the more extreme, black metal and death metal. Metalcore is a fusion genre of extreme metal and hardcore punk.
There’s no shortage of exciting metal concerts that you can attend in the US. For example, Welcome to Rockville is one of the biggest festivals you can attend on the east coast. It takes place every year in Daytona Beach, Florida in the spring.
The west coast has its own big event in the Aftershock Festival – a four-day festival that takes place at the Discovery Park in Sacramento, California. Expect the big names of the rock scene.
70000 Tons of Metal in Miami, Florida is another must-see festival, which takes place on a cruise ship. That’s right. The cruise ship also stops at a wonderful destination in the Caribbean, making it a great option for your vacation.
Heavy metal shows are notorious for loud music, so it might be a good idea to stand some distance away from the loudspeakers unless you want to experience hearing loss. That way, you can also fully capture the visual spectacle often associated with metal concerts.
Buy some metal concert tickets and be on your way to experience some exciting and high-octane music. Concerts50 is the best way to buy cheap tickets online. We aggregate tickets from various sellers in the US and sort them for convenient viewing.
Use our event calendar to watch out for any local events in your area. You would not want to miss it when your favorite metal band tours close to you. Finding concerts has never been this easy.
