Pop is a genre of popular music that gained traction in the 1950s and 60s – around the same time as a rock. Even though pop and popular music are used interchangeably – in fact, pop is short for popular – the latter refers to all music that is popular while pop has its distinct style.
As its name suggests, pop is widely popular among the general audience. It is a form of music that’s more commercial than artistic. It is purely for entertainment on the go and lacks any deeper meaning or connotation. It is characterized by simple song formats and is easy to dance to. It is mainstream and is propagated by mass media.
In the 1950s, pop encompassed rock and roll – Elvis Presley is considered one of the biggest pop stars at that time. The genre was revolutionized in the ’80s with the help of legendary artists such as Michael Jackson (dubbed the King of Pop), Madonna (dubbed the Queen of Pop), and Prince.
Pop music is everywhere and you can enjoy pop concerts wherever you live. If you live in California, Coachella is one festival that you shouldn't miss. This is one of the biggest festivals in the world with an attendance of over 750,000. You have the chance here to witness great pop stars.
Summerfest is the world’s largest music festival (certified by Guinness World Records). It is a gathering like no other of artists from various genres, including pop.
Usually, with pop music concerts, the focus is on the artist – who brings the whole glamor – and not the music. So you want to be as close as possible to your favorite musician. On the other hand, standing a bit further allows you to capture popular concerts in their entirety, including the energy of the crowd.
Buy some pop concert tickets and be on your way to some great musical entertainment. While you’re at it, try to get them cheap, so that you don’t mope about the expense all the way to the concert. Our website comes in handy there – we list tickets from various vendors at highly competitive rates.
