Candlelight concerts in Utrecht place live acoustic music in rooms lit only by candles, giving audiences a close, unhurried setting for familiar classical and contemporary works.
Settings include Leeuwenbergh, a compact sixteenth-century monument by the Singel, now an intimate recital hall; the Domkerk, the Gothic cathedral on Domplein with high, sound-carrying vaulted ceilings; and the Nicolaïkerk, a twelfth-century church known for its twin towers and light, open interior.
