Walter Mitty And His Makeshift Orchestra originated in Southern California in 2009, founded by Dustin Hayes. Known for their folk-punk and "slop" style, they blend honest lyrics with jangly, DIY instrumentation. Popular songs include "Chamomile" and "Let's Get Breakfast". Their album "Yikes Almighty" was released in 2025, following a unique treasure hunt release. They have supported bands like Modern Baseball and Jeff Rosenstock. The band is recognized for its distinctive home recording charm and cult following.
