Erykah Badu, born Erica Wright in Dallas, is renowned for her soulful neo-soul style and unique vocals reminiscent of Billie Holiday. Her debut album, *Baduizm*, featuring the hit "On & On," catapulted her to fame in 1997. Badu opened for D'Angelo, leading to a collaboration and a contract with Kedar Massenburg. She co-produced her albums including *Mama's Gun* and *New Amerykah*. Badu has collaborated with The Roots, Flying Lotus, and Tyler, The Creator, earning critical acclaim and chart success.
Big Boi, born Antwan André Patton in Savannah, GA, is known for his role in OutKast and as a solo artist. His solo debut on "Speakerboxxx" earned a Grammy. Albums like "Sir Lucious Left Foot" and "BOOMIVERSE" highlight his high-speed wordplay. Hits include "Shutterbugg" and his Grammy-nominated feature on "Royal Flush." He's collaborated with Janelle Monáe, Phantogram, and Sleepy Brown and was part of the Super Bowl halftime show with Maroon 5.
Atlanta's YoungBloodZ, featuring Sean Paul and J-Bo, debuted with "Against da Grain." Known for their Southern rap style, they rose to fame with "Drankin' Patnaz."
Goodie Mob, an Atlanta-based hip-hop group, includes Big Gipp, Cee-Lo, Khujo, and T-Mo. Known for their impact in Southern rap, their 1995 debut, "Soul Food," is a classic.
