The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1945 in Atlanta, evolved from a youth ensemble to a globally acclaimed orchestra, recording over 100 albums and winning 27 Grammys. Conductor Nathalie Stutzman leads since 2022. Notable collaborations include Glenn Gould and Isaac Stern. The orchestra made history with a digital recording in 1978 and performed at the 1996 Olympics.
French contralto and conductor Nathalie Stutzmann is renowned for her rich voice and dynamic baton work. She founded Orfeo 55, led major orchestras including Atlanta and Kristiansand, and earned Grammy and Diapason d'Or nods.
Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes, born in Karmøy, is famed for Romantic and Norwegian repertoire, especially Grieg. He's recorded widely, collaborated with top orchestras, won awards, and founded Norway’s Risør Festival of Chamber Music.
