Bay Area rapper B-Legit, born Brandt Jones in Vallejo, California, is known for his hardcore style. Debuting in the 1990s, he often collaborated with cousin E-40 in the group the Click. Their album, Game Related, neared the Top 20 on the Billboard 200. B-Legit's solo work includes The Hemp Museum, featuring artists like Suga-T and Daryl Hall. His collaborations spanned decades, with a notable team-up with E-40 on the 2018 album Connected & Respected, which made it on Billboard charts.
Too $hort, born Todd Shaw in L.A., is a pioneering West Coast rapper known for explicit lyrics and sparse instrumentals. He released his breakthrough album, "Born to Mack," in 1988, earning gold certification. Collaborating with legends like 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z, Too $hort's hits include "The Ghetto" and "Blow the Whistle." He's achieved multiple platinum albums and continues influencing hip-hop with projects like his 2020 collaboration with E-40.
DJ Quik, born David Marvin Blake in Compton, is a revered rap figure known for his funk-inspired beats. His debut, *Quik Is the Name* (1991), went platinum with hits like "Tonite." He worked with AMG, Tony! Toni! Toné!, and produced for Snoop Dogg and Jay-Z. His albums like *Way 2 Fonky* and *Safe & Sound* are gold-certified. He also formed Mad Science label and collaborated with Kurupt, releasing *BlaQKout* in 2009.
Scarface, born Brad Jordan in Houston, pioneered Southern thug rap. Known for gritty, hardcore lyrics, he found fame with Geto Boys and solo hits like "My Block." Collaborated with Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and 2Pac. Despite mainstream challenges, earned acclaim with "The Fix" and won 2001 Source's "Lyricist of the Year." Hesigned Ludacris to Def Jam South, boosting his legacy.
Oakland rapper Mistah F.A.B., a hyphy scene pioneer, blends street smarts and humor. Known for "Ghost Ride It" and "Super Sic wit' It," he’s worked with Mac Dre, Kanye, E-40.
Richie Rich, Oakland rapper since the early '90s, known for his laid-back, vivid storytelling style. Collaborated with Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Too Short, and Rick James. Legendary in hip hop despite not being mainstream. Def Jam debut "Seasoned Veteran" brought national fame.
