Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, formed in Rome in 1969, are Italian prog rock icons. Known for operatic vocals and complex compositions, hits include 1972’s debut and "Darwin!". Influenced by classical, jazz, and British prog, they notably impacted global acts like Mars Volta. Despite an '80s pop shift, they reunited in the '90s, releasing "Il Tredici" and 2019’s "Transiberiana". Collaborators include Vittorio and Gianni Nocenzi. Celebrated for live shows, they’ve weathered lineup changes and tragedies, remaining influential in Italy and beyond.
