St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1880, is the second oldest U.S. professional orchestra. Based at Powell Hall since 1968, it has 60 Grammy nominations and nine wins, including 2015 for John Adams: City Noir under David Robertson.
Samuel Barber (1910-1981) was a celebrated American classical composer, renowned for his lyrical and romantic style. A two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, Barber's compositions remain a cherished part of the classical music canon, cementing his legacy as a 20th-century master.
Sir Edward Elgar, born in Lower Broadheath, England, was a leading English Romantic composer. Known for his bold tunes and grand orchestral works, he sparked a renaissance in English music. His iconic pieces include the "Enigma Variations," "Pomp and Circumstance Marches," and the Cello Concerto.
