Bassekou Kouyate, from rural Mali near Segu, is a top ngoni proponent. Known for traditional music, he worked with U2, Carlos Santana, and Ali Farka Touré. Married to Ami Sacko, they became Malian folk heroes. Collaborated on "Kulanjan" credited as a genius by Taj Mahal. His band, Ngoni Ba, gained European acclaim with "Segu Blue."
