"The Pines of Rome" is a celebrated symphonic poem by Italian composer Ottorino Respighi, born in Bologna. This orchestral masterpiece, part of his Roman Trilogy, vividly portrays scenes of Rome with colorful orchestration, blending classical and modern styles. Known for incorporating elements like Gregorian chant, it stands as one of his most performed works, earning international acclaim.
Eric Garcia is a conductor praised for his elegant and expressive style. He serves as Music Director of the Boise Philharmonic and Artistic Director and Conductor of the McCall MusicFest in Idaho. Garcia previously held the role of Assistant Conductor for the Seattle Symphony and has guest conducted with various symphonies. He holds Doctor and Master of Music degrees in Orchestral Conducting and is known for hosting the classical music podcast "Noted".
The Boise Philharmonic, Idaho's oldest and largest performing arts organization, began as the Boise Philharmonic Society in 1890. Known for its classical and symphonic repertoire, including diverse programming and "Pops" concerts, it enriches communities through high-quality performances and extensive music education. The Philharmonic has received an "Excellence in the Arts" award and serves as the City of Boise Cultural Ambassador.
