LineUp

The Philadelphia Orchestra is a renowned classical ensemble based in Philadelphia, performing year-round from Verizon Hall to community venues. Its eighth music director is Yannick Nézet-Séguin, following leaders including Leopold Stokowski and Eugene Ormandy.
Johannes Brahms, born in Hamburg, Germany, was a pivotal Romantic era composer. He masterfully blended classical forms with rich harmonies and lyrical melodies in his symphonies, concertos, and chamber music. Celebrated for works like "Hungarian Dances" and his "Lullaby," he is considered one of classical music's "Three Bs" alongside Bach and Beethoven, leaving an enduring legacy.
Champaign-Urbana, Illinois-born violinist Gil Shaham moved to Israel as a child and debuted with the Israel Philharmonic in 1981. A Deutsche Grammophon artist and founder of Canary Classics (2004), he won a Grammy with André Previn and earned the Avery Fisher Prize (2008).
Johannes Brahms' "A German Requiem," composed 1865-1868, is a monumental choral work offering comfort to the living. This Romantic masterpiece, set to German biblical texts, stands apart from traditional Latin Requiems. It became Brahms's first major triumph, solidifying his reputation.
Montreal-born Yannick Nézet-Séguin is a celebrated conductor and pianist, known for his dynamic, collaborative style and boundless enthusiasm. He leads the Metropolitan Opera, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Orchestre Métropolitain. Nézet-Séguin has earned multiple Grammy Awards for diverse recordings, including Florence Price symphonies and the "Maestro" soundtrack.
