Branford Marsalis, a virtuoso jazz saxophonist from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, is renowned for his inventive exploration of jazz, classical, funk, and rock. Rising in the 1980s alongside his brother Wynton, he's collaborated with Sting, Miles Davis, and Bruce Hornsby. Marsalis, who fronts a harmonically sophisticated quartet, has won multiple Grammys, including for I Heard You Twice the First Time. He scored Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and has recorded classical works with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, demonstrating his adventurous and boundary-pushing artistry.
