Butcher Brown is a five-member band blending jazz and hip-hop with funk, soul, and rock. Formed around VCU’s jazz program, they debuted with 2014’s All Purpose Music, toured with Kamasi Washington, and played NPR Tiny Desk in 2021.

Nicholas Payton

New Orleans-born trumpeter, keyboardist, and singer Nicholas Payton blends post-bop jazz with hip-hop, funk, and R&B. He won a Grammy for his 1997 collaboration with Doc Cheatham and released albums including Dear Louis and Bitches.
