Formed in Los Angeles in 1979 by vocalist Rozz Williams, Christian Death emerged as pioneers of American goth rock and death rock. Known for provocative, confrontational themes, their 1982 debut Only Theatre of Pain became a genre landmark. Following Williams' departure, guitarist Valor Kand took leadership, guiding the band through various lineups and conceptual releases spanning goth, punk, and metal.
