Cuban pianist and composer Chucho Valdés, born in Quivicán, is a pivotal figure in Afro-Cuban jazz, blending Afro-Cuban, jazz, and classical styles. He's won seven GRAMMYs, five Latin GRAMMYs, and a Latin Academy Lifetime Achievement Award.
