Born in South Central LA, jazz saxophonist Gerald Albright excels across multiple instruments. He’s known for hits like "Just Between Us" and "24/7" with Norman Brown. Albright’s collaborations include Patrice Rushen, Quincy Jones, and Dave Koz. His albums, such as "Slam Dunk" and "Summer Horns," frequently top jazz charts, and he runs his own label, Bright Music.
Formed in 1976 at Kentucky State University, MIDNIGHT STAR rose to fame with technofunk hits like "Freak-A-Zoid" and "No Parking on the Dance Floor." Their albums earned multiple Platinum and Gold certifications, with chart-toppers like "Operator," "Midas Touch," and collaborations like "Don’t Rock the Boat" with Whodini. Performing worldwide, they remain an iconic band in funk and R&B.
Jodeci, known as "The Bad Boys of R&B," revolutionized the genre with soulful harmonies. With 20M+ albums sold globally and three #1 Billboard R&B albums, they're famous for hits like "Forever My Lady," "Come & Talk To Me," and "Cry For You." In 2023, they headlined the Summer Block Party Tour, joined by SWV and Dru Hill.
Al Green, born in Forrest City, Arkansas, is a legendary R&B singer known for his smooth soul and falsetto. Raised in Michigan, he gained fame with hits like "Tired of Being Alone," "Let's Stay Together," and "I'm Still in Love with You." Collaborating with producer Willie Mitchell at Hi Records, he created iconic Memphis funk. After personal challenges, he became a minister while still releasing music, earning a duet with Annie Lennox in 1988 and a Grammy-winning career. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, Green continues to inspire with his timeless sound and live performances.
