Joshua Redman, born in Berkeley, California, is an acclaimed tenor saxophonist known for blending post-bop jazz with advanced harmonies and playful exploration. The son of saxophonist Dewey Redman, he gained fame after winning the 1991 Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Saxophone Competition. His 1993 debut album earned a Grammy nomination, and his album Wish topped the Billboard Jazz chart.
