He is widely known for his roles as Dave Lister in Red Dwarf and Lloyd Mullaney in Coronation Street, and for presenting Robot Wars. As a DJ, he champions funk and soul music, hosting The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC Radio 6 Music and performing live DJ sets. He won a national poetry award at 12 and his radio show earned a Gold Aria award.
