He won the Blues Music Award for Song of the Year in 2018 and has claimed eleven Blues Music Awards, including B.B. King Entertainer of the Year. A former member of The Nighthawks and The Robert Cray Band, he inspired John Belushi's "Joliet" Jake Blues role in The Blues Brothers.
