Dexy's Midnight Runners, formed in Birmingham, England in 1978, are known for their distinctive pop rock, blue-eyed soul, and Celtic folk sound. Led by Kevin Rowland, they achieved major success in the 1980s. Popular songs include UK and US chart-topper "Come On Eileen" and UK #1 "Geno". Their albums include "Too-Rye-Ay" (1982) and "The Feminine Divine" (2023). "Come On Eileen" won Best British Single at the 1983 Brit Awards. The band's name is derived from Dexedrine, a stimulant used by Northern Soul fans.
