Shai is a four-man urban contemporary vocal group. Their 1992 debut album ...If I Ever Fall in Love and its number one title track topped the R&B and pop charts, and they have remained a presence on the R&B charts.
Dru Hill is an American contemporary R&B group formed in Baltimore in 1992, known for rich harmonies and a soulful blend of R&B, hip-hop soul, and gospel. Their albums Dru Hill (1996) and Enter the Dru (1998) include hits like Tell Me and In My Bed.
Multi-platinum R&B singer-songwriter Lloyd returned from a 5-year hiatus with 2016’s Tru EP and RIAA Platinum title track. His 2007 gold album Street Love debuted No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with hits “You” and “Get It Shawty.”
Born Bobby Wilson in Mississippi and raised in Atlanta, smooth contemporary R&B singer Bobby V (formerly Bobby Valentino) broke out with Mista’s “Blackberry Molasses.” Signed to Ludacris’ DTP; debut topped Billboard R&B and he later hit the Top Ten with Fly on the Wall.
Florida-born contemporary R&B singer Sammie broke out in 1999 with Dallas Austin-produced hit "I Like It" (Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop #8). His album From the Bottom to the Top followed, later returning with Indigo (2015) and Coming of Age (2017).
Miami, Florida-born R&B singer Pleasure P (Marcus Ramone Cooper) rose with Pretty Ricky on gold Bluestars (2005), featuring hits “Grind with Me” and “Your Body.” He went solo in 2007, scoring a hit with “Did You Wrong” and the 2009 album The Introduction of Marcus Cooper.
Houston R&B vocal group H-Town (from Luther Campbell’s camp): “Knockin’ da Boots” #3 Hot 100; platinum Fever for da Flavor; 2 gold albums; collabs Jodeci/Pretty Ricky.
New York R&B singer Case; rose in the ’90s (backed Usher). Def Jam artist behind Case, Personal Conversation, Open Letter; worked with Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Tim & Bob.
Washington, D.C.-based R&B vocalist J. Holiday (Nahum Grymes) signed to Capitol and broke through with Back of My Lac' (2007). Singles Bed and Suffocate, co-written by the-Dream, topped Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Round 2 followed in 2009.
